School Lunches Stressing You Out?

If you are looking for kid’s lunch packing tips, I’m here for you!

I am always striving to pack the perfect lunch for my children and consistently failing… One thing I have learnt over the past 12 years is that you just have to be persistent. Eventually it pays off. I’ve gone through it all, from finding my children’s cut up carrots tucked under the tree in the front yard, to Tupperware with unrecognizable food hiding in the back of closets to having to throw out lunch boxes with stuff growing inside. But I also know that children see and learn from us and they will cherish the healthy values that we try to instil.

I’ve always made lunches that consist of a meal item, (it might be a sandwich, a pizza roll, a quesadilla, or leftovers…) a fruit that they like and a vegetable, that if truth be told, often comes back home. But I always encourage them to eat it, even if it’s at home. I try not send candy or packaged foods, for the most part. I have found that cutting fruits and veg into cute shapes or with a crinkle knife can be helpful. I urge you to be consistent even if your kids hate you for it. They will come to understand that you do it because you love and care for them.

(Here’s a tip when packing berries: make sure they are packed tight in the container to prevent them from rolling around and getting mushy)
